guess we can really feel "singapore winter" is coming cos rainy season is here. it rain almost everyday (even now..super big rain). so we really need to eat some warm food to "warm" our stomach. Shabu-shabu and steamboat is definitely one of them. i fell in love with steamboat n shabu shabu when i went taiwan many years bk. i love the thinly sliced pork that u dip into the pipping hot soup and then eat it with yummy special sauce!
this time round we had shabu shabu at Shabuya - VIVO city. apparently they score the highest for their shabu shabu in Hungry Go where. unfortunately they are not rated on their customer service there and sadly, we experience a GOOD + BAD experience there.
the price of the shabu is consider high. cos they charge by per serving of meat / vege and for meat, it is about 150g per plate. for a plate of kurobuta pork is about 20 bucks and waygu beef is about 30 bucks. there is no selection of the type of soup so it is standard type of soup for all (but you have 2 different type of soup based)
we ordered 1 plate of waygu beef, 1 plate of kurobuta pork belly, veges and japanese glass noodles for the shabu shabu
other side dishes..they served salmon belly sashimi which is really good and their garlic fried rice is superb except it doesnt fry with eggs =(
overall the food is not bad especially the beef and pork. the meat is thinly sliced and yummy. i had my first taste of beef and guess wat? i survived. i guess it is not about me being allergic to beef but the type of beef..normal beef i pulk..but wagyu i din. lol
next..take a look at this picture..
if you look at it carefully, u see two plates of wagyu beef and we only ordered 1 right? so this is what happen. when the food arrived, there isnt much space for them to place all the food on the small table. so they use a foldable table and placed it next to LL. when LL stood up to try to lower the temperature of the induction cooker. the table tople and fell. so the table 1 plate of half touched vege and 1 plate of untouched wagyu beef fell onto the floor.
now. we were all shocked cos
1. it is not exactly our fault cos the table was placed too near us and we couldnt anticpate the whole event la
2. will they give us a new plate of beef since probably they deem is our fault. forget about the vege..they dont cost us as much as the beef.
so the staff came and started to clear the mess and they mumble something to check our order. we continue to eat the rest of the meat (pork) n whatever is left in the pot.
soon after they clear the mess, they came with a new plate of wagyu beef which look much lesser ( so they assume that we took some of the beef and they give us lesser). so on one side we are happy that we got a new plate of beef and on the other end, we got pissed that we got lesser than 150g. so we told them that the beef was untouched all along. the staff then went to "put back" the beef to 150g and serve it to us.
next, while we happily eating the new beef, another staff came along delivering another plate of waygu beef and placed it on our table. we thought is out of good will since they
1. delivered something lesser than we ordered
2. cause us to waste 1 plate of wagyu beef.
we were happily eating from the 1st plate of beef and almost going to touch the next plate of beef when suddenly the staff coming and say she actually deliver the plate of beef to the wrong table which is like 30minutes later! we were disgusted by their actions
1. how can they do this to us when the staff delivered it wrongly in the first place and we about to touch it until they came running to stop us
2. how can the next customer eat something that is left in the open air for 30 minutes?
OMG. we were like..shit. what if we really eat the beef that they delivered it wrongly? will they charge us and what will happen if the next customer takes them??
seriously, despite the good food we had but the dinning experience is terrlbe. i wouldnt want to go back there to dine cos i maybe eating something that is left in the open for a long time.
