well, today we shall learn on how to take landscape pictures using PEN. landscape, not my favorite actually. it is always difficult to capture the kind of feel that you want to give to. so it is just not about anyhow shoot. actually i feel, human or animal objects are the easier ones. haha.
anyway. taking landscape is not about zooming. as you can see, if you are holding on to a kit lens of 14mm-42mm, you need to try to fit everything to a 14mm. if you zoom, you probably will lose out the details of the landscape. so normally what i do is, for landscape, it is always better to zoom out, use a wide angle lens ( it applies for DSLR too).
you can use the customized screen in PEN which makes your life much much easier and simpler. with the intelligence that is built in, you can also take humans or animals in landscape and it will turn out swee swee (pretty).
a little tip for you. if you wishes to take night scenery, try not to use a external or built in flash unless you are super expert in them.for external flash, unless you know the technique of bouncing light , if you face the flash at the object, the object will turn out very white or you can say the light is very harsh. same thing applies to the built in flash cos you cannot adjust the angle of the flash you want. so my suggestion is try to play around with the shutter speed to allow longer time exposure and you can do this in the manual mode. =). for long exposure, try to put the camera on a tripod to avoid hand shake. hand shake will cause the image to turn blur.
here are some of the landscape pictures i took. not very fantastic but it gives you a rough idea of what i am talking about.
night pictures without flash
well, you can see most of them are taken in bali cos i am too lazy to dig out the macau and zhu hai ones. if you are interested in some of the travel pictures i took using PEN, you can go to my travel log pages. i bought PEN in Feb i think so since then i always carries it with me when i travel as it is light and good.
so till next time, i probably share with you some other features like art filters, other features of PEN
I love to shoot and i love my PEN
